Welcome to Satori Mind and Bodywork! Satori is founded on the principles of taking control of the time and effort we put into having a healthy body and a focused mind. By training the body and disciplining the mind with patience and intent, anyone can alleviate accumulated muscular and emotional tension, release physical and psychological restrictions, and learn to develop the skill of keeping the body and mind relaxed.
This is the allowance we give to ourselves to explore our body's natural range of motion in coordination with the breath, and as the body becomes more free to move efficiently, the mind does so as well. The movements and breath allow the channels that circulate blood (hormones, nutrients, oxygen, waste,) lymph (interstitial waste, fluid return, immune regulation,) and Qi (the feeling of experincing the self, "energy", electro-magnetic field, balance, and internal fluid/pressure awareness) to become more functional and for our awareness to experience that improvement of function. This allows for us to reach our overall best wellbeing and our maximum potential, while teaching us self-reliance and accountability for our own progress.
The techniques are direct and based on the concepts, theories and practices of Human Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Taiji and Qigong. They indicate that as we develop strong yet soft, pliable yet firm, relaxed and adaptable tissues, our attitude takes a similiar shape, or was it the other way around..?
It is up to every individual to set their own goals, and work to achieve them. This is the accumulation of both Time and Effort. Satori facilitates this process by providing hands on massage and movement training, and by offering advice on stretching, breathing exercises and routine bodywork to be maintained at home. By putting the effort and time into preventing certain conditions from arising, as well as being diligent in treating the issues which are present, we save ourselves large amounts of time and effort mitigating and suffering those conditions as they arise.
Everything that arises will eventually cease, this is true for the physical and mental both. Most of our problems can be defined by some lack of satisfaction; not enough water or nutrients in the tissues, life in general can be tedious and challenging, and it can be observed that with certain efforts, there may be a path that expedites the cessation of that dissatisfaction. The path towards this cessation is as different and varied as our dissatisfactions themselves, and this is why we must be diligent in our practice, open-minded, and willing to put in the work understanding that either way we will likely experience our lives relatively the same with the perception of that experience providing many of the desired changes. What value do you put on incremental quality-of-life improvements? How much Time and Effort are you willing to commit to yourself?
There are no truly easy answers for most of our concerns, but with a dedication to our own self-care, we can make a posive change that will support us on our path to whatever goals we set for ourselves. Discipline makes things easier, but is hard to acheive and develop. Only through time and with a great amount of effort can we become the best version of ourselves. Satori's mission is to provide lessons that will open the doors to reliable self-care practices, and a resource for healing.
Satori is a small operation that is owned and managed by Sifu Kurtis Tilley, LMT. He has been practicing massage therapy since 2018, and has worked with the Academy of Natural Therapy as an Instructor in Sports Massage, and Colorado State University as a massage therapist for the CSU Rams Football team. Sifu Tilley has also studied Qi Gong, Kung Fu, and Taiji since 2008 and has been an instructor in these arts since 2012. It is this foundation which gives rise to many of the bodywork routines, coupled with a continued effort to understand the body in motion, and the present mind with up to date literacy and research.
Here's wishing you health, wellbeing, breath, balance, creativity and passion!
